Introduction
To study the effect of manufacturing processes or the function, e.g. wear behaviour or optical appearance, the geometrical microstructure can be characterized. The new ISO 21920-2 in 2D and the ISO 25178-2 in 3D offer parameters to assess the properties of surfaces. Many of these parameters are based on the evaluation of amplitudes. In the context of blasted surfaces it can be useful to record the distribution of areal surface characteristics and gain information about the homogeneity.
Objectives
This paper presents an approach for the determination of surface parameters based on a calculated mesh for identified features. The distribution parameters resulting from the mesh are used to assess the homogeneity of the feature distribution on the surface. (fig. 1)
