Development of residual stresses induced by deep rolling at an additive structure

Introduction

Additive structures are very interesting for one-piece-manufacturing. The wish is to use additive structures in dynamic applications. The challenge is to increase the durability of these components. One way is the use of mechanical surface treatment. One way is deep rolling. The distribution of residual stresses is one essential question.

Objectives

Deep rolling is a process with different induced residual stresses along and perpendicular to the track. An additive structure has also different direction, the layer direction and perpendicular to the layers. Therefore, four different cases are given, which will be investigated.
